Sonia Woolley joined Shann Family Lawyers from Sydney as a Family Law Solicitor in January 2007
Sonia Woolley graduated from the University of Sydney in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts (Social Policy and Sociology) and Bachelor of Laws with Honors.
In the final years of her law degree Sonia took a strong focus on family law and related issues, successfully completing subjects in Family Law, Law and Gender, Alternative Dispute Resolution and was selected to participate in an External Placement Program at the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia.
During her university studies Sonia worked as a paralegal at a busy commercial law firm in Sydney appearing in Sydney Local and District Court and the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Since completing her degree Sonia has worked primarily in family law. In November 2002 she held the position of Deputy Associate to a Federal Magistrate at the Federal Magistrates Court of Australia where she undertook extensive legal research on complex family law issues and gained a solid knowledge of the Family Law Act and family law practice and procedure.
In October 2003 Sonia obtained a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and in February 2004 was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. In April 2004 Sonia was entered into the Register of Practitioners kept at the Registry of the High Court of Australia, entitling her to practice in any Federal Court.
In April 2004 Sonia was employed as a Family Lawyer in a busy NSW law firm where she appeared in a variety of Courts including the Family Court of Australia, Federal Magistrates Court of Australia, Local Court and the Children's Court.
Sonia joined Shann Family Lawyers in January 2007 and was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in February 2007. She practices in all areas of family law including matters involving property settlements, de facto relationships, spousal maintenance, child support and parenting arrangements. Sonia is dedicated to providing a client focused and flexible legal service, which takes into consideration her clients individual needs.
